For this week's interview as part of the series 'Know a Member' we have Mr Jitendra Kumar. Please continue reading below to know what he has to say. 1. What was your biggest take-away from the training at IIT? Ans. Be the best in the class with a "Can do attitude". I was privileged to have studied with the best students and faculty and it always inspires us to do our best in every walk of life. This has helped me a lot and because of this I could survive so far in my journey. 2. What are some lessons that you have learnt in your nearly 20 years experience post IIT? Ans. Do not let fear of failure hold you to pursue your worthy goals. I was fearful of my moving to Korea considering Language, food and cultures but I had desire of getting overseas work experience. I think I learnt a lot in my ten year stint in Korea and got exposed to technological advancements which I would not have been exposed to had I not taken this chance and it prepared me to take on my future challenges. 3. Which assignment are you proud of the most? Ans. I always feel great to be part of the architecture, design and development team of the world's first UMTS Protocol stack in Sasken because of the learning and it helped me a lot in my career. Next working with the Samsung Galaxy Series android smartphone and the feeling to see it reach to become the world's best smartphone was awesome. My current assignment in the convergence R&D would help me see more advancement in the connected world. 4. Your domain is connectivity. What is your vision of a connected world? Ans. It is just the starting of the connected world. There are tremendous potential and a lot more to be done to have a really connected world. Having worked on several connectivity technologies UMTS (3G), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, IrDA and GPS, I see a lot more innovation in the years to come in connected home, office, school and so on and connected vehicles on the road and the services that are going to change our life style a lot. 5. Did you have any role models who inspired you in your career thus far? Ans. A lot. Microsoft Founder Bill Gates to start with in the initial years of my career on how he revolutionalized personal computing space with windows and then came Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin which tried to provide all the answers to all the questions that anyone could think of and lately Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on how he provided the whole social experience online. 6. Advise for other IIT graduates in our group? Ans. I think I have a lot to learn from other IIT graduates but here is what I have to offer. Take care of your health, family and the community you live in. In pursuit of excellence we sometimes neglect our own health and family and get into troubles. Health is wealth and when stocks are down it is our family in whose company we find solace. ![]() Jitendra Kumar is a B.Tech (honours) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT-BHU, Varanasi. He is currently working on Bluetooth Low Energy in Convergence Technology R&D group in Samsung Electronics HQ. His areas of interests are Bluetooth, UMTS, GPS and WIFI in connectivity.
