For this week's interview as part of the series 'Know a Member' we have Mr. Ayush Rastogi. Please continue reading below to know what he has to say. 1. What was your biggest take-away from the training at IIT? Response. My biggest take-aways from IIT:
2. What is your area of interest and how do you see that affecting the common man? Response. My area of interest is design and development of wireless networks. Currently, I am working on LTE networks. Simultaneously, I am also a part of a team which is examining future network designs which aim to unify access to several types of wireless networks. These networks can greatly simplify how we communicate and the way we wirelessly access information on the internet. 3. Post IIT, what has been your biggest assignment of which you are proud of? Response. In IIT, while I had worked on several projects, most of these were in collaboration with professors or other students. Post-IIT, while pursuing my MS degree, I was able to start a project, own it completely, take it to its logical conclusion, and publish my research work. So far, this has been my biggest independent assignment. 4. What are some of your key learnings from your stay/work in Korea? Response. My key learning has been: ask politely and people will help. For foreigners in Korea, communication is often difficult but, in my experience, even people not at all comfortable with English have tried their best to help whenever I have requested them to. 5. What are your expectations from this alumni association? Response. People are generally unwilling to come to Korea due to an alien culture and the language barrier. Our alumni association can help new employees to adjust to Korean work culture. While there are a number of information sources about Korean culture in general, there are very few sources which deal specifically with the work culture in companies. 6. Any other thoughts? Response. The alumni association is doing a great job of unifying IITians under one umbrella. We could organize a few knowledge-sharing sessions where members can discuss the technologies they are working on, the expected impacts of those technologies, how far we have progressed towards commercially deploying these technologies, etc. Ayush Rastogi is currently working on development and deployment of 4G (LTE) networks. In future, he aspires to contribute immensely to the field of wireless communication and allied technologies. He graduated from Seoul National University (MS - 2013) and IIT-Roorkee (B.Tech - 2011).
